1.3l) If an irreguiar solid is too large to fit into a measuring cylinder, how will you determine its volume? Explain in brief.

If an irregular solid is too large for a measuring cylinder, We can determine its volume using the overflow can method:

Steps:

  1. Fill the Overflow Can:

    • Fill the overflow can with water until it starts dripping from the spout.
  2. Place the Solid in the Can:

    • Gently lower the solid into the water. The water displaced by the solid will flow out through the spout.
  3. Collect the Displaced Water:

    • Collect the displaced water in a container.
  4. Measure the Volume:

    • Use a measuring cylinder to determine the volume of the displaced water, which equals the volume of the solid.

This method works on the principle of Archimedes' principle, where the volume of displaced water equals the volume of the submerged object.
